protest

What a long time it's been. I've been waiting because I have a rough draft of a paper that I wanted to post in here, but I haven't finished it yet. It's a depressing story. Be forewarned.

Protest in Congress Square today. It rained. That was too bad, but at least it wasn't freezing cold. Ooo, slippery, though! When we showed up, Anna, Mea, and I, we went to Memorial Square. Nobody. One person with a sign. But then we asked some people on the street and they said the protesters had gone to the old port. Sure enough, we found them, joined just in time to walk the wrong way up Exchange and storm city hall. I think Anna was apprehensive at first, afraid that the cops were going to show up and arrest people (because I told her about the protest in Portland last semester), but we both had a good time in the end. I yelled until I was hoarse! Even when we had to leave to go home, we could hear Fred & Mea's voices at the head of the line: "1, 2, 3, 4, We don't want your oil war!" On the whole, it seemed that the passers-by were tolerant, if not supportive. There was one guy making the "Heil Hitler" arm sign. That was uncomfortable. We just made peace signs at him. :P

Now my pants are totally soaking, but my hair is really curly... Anna even found a perfect finger-curl somewhere in the back. I wish my hair had the gumption to do this everyday, but it's too shy. Ah well, some really swanky cheese I discovered in the Portland Public Market is calling to me, along with a loaf of soft cheesy bread. Cheesalicious. Mmmmm.
